Waunakee's own Bent Aussprung put himself on the World Cup Speed Skating team recently with the second fastest time in the 500-meter event at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee.
He is looking towards the upcoming Olympics at on of four possible spots for the U.S. speed skaters. He will be skating all over the world in the coming weeks in Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and Salt Lake City in World Cup competitions.

I am sure you have heard the news that Chicago is bidding for the Olympics to be held in Chicago for 2016...what's in it for us?...

....What our area is known for, of course! BIKING! President Obama is travelling this week to meet with the International Olympic Committee to lobby for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago. Decision to be made Friday, October 2nd!

If this happens, Dane County - Madison Wisconsin area is slated to be the top choice for the biking events, which would be the cycling road race, time trial, and off-road competition.

What an economy boost and exciting time that would be! Milwaukee is excited, too, as it is a relatively short drive for such a huge event with plenty of hungry hotels and restaurants.

Let's keep our wheels crossed!
